Lab Director: Carmen Westerberg

Dr. Westerberg obtained her PhD in Cognitive and Biological Psychology from the University of Minnesota and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University before joining the faculty at Texas State University in fall 2011. Her current research interests involve how memories change across time and how neural events underlying these changes affect other cognitive processes such as problem solving and decision making.

Graduate Students:

Regan Christian

Regan graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.S. in Psychology. Her undergraduate research focused on the sleep-related symptoms of Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). She plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in Behavioral Science and research that investigates sleep disturbances in individuals with C-PTSD, attentional bias and threat detection, and sleep as it relates to intrusive and emotional memories. In her free time, Regan likes to be outdoors, consume all forms of media related to high fantasy, and spend time with her cats.

Yordanos Kinfe

Yordanos is a junior pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry and a double minor in psychology and biology with a premed concentration. She spends her time doing expressive projects that she enjoys that capitalize on her creativity as well as being an activist for mental health awareness. In her free time, she enjoys reading and quality time with her friends and dogs.

Daniel Gonsalez

Daniel is a junior at Texas State pursuing a B.S in Microbiology with a minor in Biochemistry with a Pre-Medical Concentration. He enjoys spending his free time with friends and family and helping out his community.

Quade White

Quade is a Senior at Texas State majoring in Psychology while pursing a minor in Biology. He was born in Austin but lived in San Antonio for most of his life. He intends on going to medical school in order to receive his M.D., after which he plans to get licensed as a psychiatrist and open his own private practice. When he isn’t studying, he likes to go for runs with his dog, play D&D with his friends, and bake.

 Sampada Niroula                                                                                           

Sampada is an international student from Nepal majoring in computer science and minoring in psychology. She is fascinated by the mechanisms of brain and wants to integrate brain science with technology. She is interested in pursuing Computational Neuroscience on the graduate level. She loves to read books in her free time, try different cuisines, watch true crime podcasts and is a huge cat person!

Favour Kowe

Favour is a psychology major and has a minor in pre-medicine. She enjoys engaging in volunteer opportunities as well as developing her psychological capabilities by taking numerous psychology courses. Most of her time is consumed by working for the TXST STEM Communities as a Learning Assistant for Biology. Besides that, she enjoys spending her free time trying out new recipes, spending time with friends, and reading.

Isabella Rodriguez

Isabella is a Junior at Texas State University pursuing a B.S. in Psychology and a double minor in Biology and Pre-Physician Assistant Studies. She grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and wants to become a Physician Assistant after completing her undergraduate degree. She enjoys taking walks with friends, curating playlists, and volunteering locally.

Rebecca Hutson

Rebecca is a Senior Psychology major serving as a research assistant for Regan Christian in her Memory of Emotional and Contextual Information Experiment. She plans to complete a marriage and family counseling grad program to become an MFT!

Easley Smith 

Easley Smith is a current undergraduate senior studying Psychology at Texas State University with a double minor in music and theatre. She is assisting Regan Christain with her thesis in Emotional and Contextual Memory Evaluated Through News Clips and is presently working as a Registered Behavioral Therapist in Dripping Springs. Easley plans to pursue a masters in counseling, focus in marriage and family therapy, in graduate school. In her free time she also enjoys reading, theatre, and scrapbooking.

Kelsey Randall

Kelsey is Senior pursuing a psychology major with a biology minor. She is currently assisting a couple different studies to gain experience for graduate school. When she is not doing school or work, she likes to do anything crafty such as painting, crocheting or ceramics.
